What we do

We help you take control of your drinking!

Our program is designed to reduce cravings, address underlying drinking motivations and restore life balance.

We provide a psychology-based, integrated program of counselling support and innovative, evidence-driven therapies. Our program also facilitates collaboration with other carers, such as GPs, and provides customised support for medical regimens. Evidence shows that this combination - of therapy and medication, generally produces the best therapeutic outcomes.

Our treatment is safe, personalised and compassionate. It supersedes traditional reliance upon "willpower” as a basis for recovery. At your own pace, we guide you from where you are, to where you want to be.

You choose you goal: drinking in moderation or abstinence.

At what point should I seek support?

When your drinking starts to adversely affect your personal or work life, or...
you are concerned about the longer-term consequences of your current drinking pattern.

Who do we help?

We support people from all walks of life who recognise that alcohol is starting to cause problems and know something needs to change.

Are you:

  • Drinking more often or more than you intend?

  • Experiencing poor sleep, low mood, brain fog or weight gain?

  • Having difficulties in relationships at home or work?

  • Relying on alcohol to unwind, cope with stress or switch off?

  • Concerned about the longer-term consequences of your current drinking pattern?

  ... Now is the right time to take a new path!

Over-drinking is rarely just about alcohol itself. Our work gently explores underlying motivations that shape your habits. Together, we help you move towards a more balanced, sustainable relationship with alcohol — one step at a time.

Combination Therapy = Psychology + Medication

Combination therapy approach is regarded as the gold-standard in alcohol treatment. A large body of contemporary research in alcohol recovery treatment shows the best outcomes occur when medicine and psychological therapy are combined. Medication addresses the neurobiological reinforcement, while psychological therapy addresses behaviour, coping, stress regulation and relapse prevention.

Our psychology-based combination approach offers:

  • thorough assessment;

  • evidence-based psychology therapy;

  • personalised medication support as needed;

  • relapse-prevention planning; and

  • ongoing follow-up for lasting change.

We offer non-judgemental, compassionate care grounded in best-practice therapeutic approaches with practical, real-world support. As you take control of your drinking, your safety and sustainable change are our priority, with a strong focus on restoring life balance.

One evidence-based approach we often recommend is The Sinclair Method, outlined below.

The Sinclair Method

Abstinence may no longer be the only option!

The Sinclair Method (TSM) is an evidence-based approach that uses the medication naltrexone to reduce alcohol cravings gently and support gradual change. TSM avoids abrupt detox allowing you to choose your own recovery goal, whether that means cutting down or stopping.

TSM research shows strong, long-term success, especially when supported by therapy adapted to this unique process. The Bluefield Clinic program complements TSM in exactly this way.

My career in alcohol-related research and clinical care has always been both challenging and rewarding. I respect that every individual's relationship with alcohol is unique as is the constellation of factors that have lead to problem drinking. At The Bluefield Clinic, we progress at a manageable pace to identify and address these factors for each individual. This personalised approach is key to achieving an optimal long-term treatment outcome.

Navigating treatment options and considering recovery goals can be confusing and overwhelming.

I invite you to contact us for an obligation-free consultation to discuss your needs and our service and explore how we may support you — because finding the right fit for you matters.
