What we do

We provide confidential online alcohol counselling and treatment across Australia, supporting people who want to reduce or change their drinking.

Our approach combines evidence-based psychological therapy with medication support where appropriate, helping to identify and treat underlying motivations and patterns, reduce cravings and restore balance over time.

This integrated model is increasingly recognised as producing stronger and more sustainable outcomes than approaches relying on willpower alone.

Treatment is discreet, personalised and paced according to your needs. We work with you from where you are, supporting meaningful and lasting change.

You define your goal — whether that is moderation or abstinence.

At what point should I seek support?

When your drinking starts to adversely affect your personal or work life, or...
you are concerned about the longer-term consequences of your current drinking pattern.

Who do we help?

We work with individuals from all backgrounds, including those managing demanding professional and personal responsibilities, who have begun to question their relationship with alcohol.

Many of the people we work with are functioning well in their roles, while privately recognising that something is not quite right.

You may be noticing:

  • drinking more often, or more than you intend

  • difficulty stopping once you start

  • disrupted sleep, low mood, or reduced clarity and focus

  • increased reliance on alcohol to unwind or manage stress

  • strain in relationships at home or work

  • concern about the longer-term impact of your current pattern.

A Different Path Forward

Alcohol use is rarely just about alcohol itself. It often reflects underlying patterns, pressures and ways of coping that develop over time.

Our work focuses on understanding these patterns and supporting meaningful, sustainable change — at a pace that feels manageable and aligned with your goals.

Combination Therapy = Psychology + Medication

Combination therapy approach is regarded as the gold-standard in alcohol treatment. A large body of contemporary research in alcohol recovery treatment shows the best outcomes occur when medicine and psychological therapy are combined. Medication addresses the neurobiological reinforcement, while psychological therapy addresses behaviour, coping, stress regulation and relapse prevention.

Our psychology-based combination approach offers:

  • thorough assessment;

  • evidence-based psychology therapy;

  • personalised medication support as needed;

  • relapse-prevention planning; and

  • ongoing follow-up for lasting change.

We offer non-judgemental, compassionate care grounded in best-practice therapeutic approaches with practical, real-world support. As you take control of your drinking, your safety and sustainable change are our priority, with a strong focus on restoring life balance.

One evidence-based approach we often recommend is The Sinclair Method, outlined below.

The Sinclair Method in Australia

Abstinence may no longer be the only option!

The Sinclair Method (TSM) is an evidence-based treatment in Australia that uses the medication naltrexone to help reduce alcohol cravings and support gradual change over time. It does not require abrupt detox and allows you to work toward your own goal, whether that is reducing drinking or stopping altogether.

Research demonstrates strong long-term outcomes, particularly when TSM is supported by appropriately structured psychological therapy. Our program is designed to provide this integration, combining the Sinclair Method with clinical psychological support to enhance and sustain results.

My career in alcohol-related research and clinical care has always been both challenging and rewarding. I respect that every individual's relationship with alcohol is unique as is the constellation of factors that have lead to problem drinking. At The Bluefield Clinic, we progress at a manageable pace to identify and address these factors for each individual. This personalised approach is key to achieving an optimal long-term treatment outcome.

Navigating treatment options and considering recovery goals can be confusing and overwhelming.
